These pieces started out as sketchbook pen drawings made from snaps I took with my phone around my local area. I chose subjects that evoked the everyday gritty reality of the urban environment and deliberately made no attempt to sanitise or idealise the final images, focusing instead on the often-overlooked signs of wear and tear that imbue these locations with so much of their character.
The drawings were finally scanned and digitally coloured using a suitably muted palette. This is likely to evolve into an ongoing series.
